Gulf Cryo has a persistent commitment to sustainable living, and it was anchored as early as 2014 when we stopped burning fuel to produce CO2. Instead, we invested in an alternative, sustainable solution: Carbon Capture and utilization. Gulf Cryo designed, built, and operated the first Carbon Capture Facility in the Region, a year before the Paris Agreement, with clear advocacy of moving away from fossil fuel CO2. And since we have only supplied clean CO2 to our customers.
Carbon capture, utilization (CCU) is an important strategy for mitigating climate change. involves capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from power plants and other industrial facilities, then using the CO2.
Recently, Gulf Cryo has allocated 100M$ in green initiatives in the region, ramping up our CO2 recovery to more than 5 folds by 2030 reaching 600,000 Metric Ton Per Annum. In 2022, Gulf Cryo made significant strides in carbon capture by signing two key agreements. The first agreement was with Petro Rabigh, (a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical). The second was with Maaden signed at the Saudi Green Initiative forum during COP27 in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman.
Committed to sustainability, Gulf Cryo identifies, tests, and deploys innovative CO2 applications and creates value from the abundant carbon emissions.
Gulf Cryo continues its legacy of making the world better for our children, with a persistent commitment for a sustainable living committing to decarbonizing our region and contributing to our well-being. Let’s walk this path together.
